Key Milestones of Mawarid

1. PLANT

  • From August 2010 onwards plant could consistently achieve 120 TPH of ore milling, the plant was successfully upgraded to 120 TPH throughput capacity & consistently achieving that since Aug 2010

  • Full fledged treatment of Safwa, new deposit, ore from 09/06/2011

  • Delivered more than 2000 MT of Cu metal in concentrate in July 2011

  • End of Q2 2011 achieved 400 days LTI free

2. MINE

  • Pre strip at Safwa Mine commenced Nov 2010

  • Received Blasting License in Q3 2010 & subsequently commenced our Drill and Blast Operation in Q1 2011

  • By end of Q2 2011 Mining achieved 1400 days LTI free


3. EXPLORATION

  • 13th July 2011 Start exploration activities in Kazakhstan

  • 16th June 2011 CA signed Between Mawarid Mining and Data Mining in Kazakhstan

  • 26th July 11 received Mining license for Mandoos Mine


4. DRILLING

  • 14/05/2008 commencement of owner exploration drilling with our own drill rigs.

  • Performed external contracts drilling with our own drill rigs in Dec 2010 & again in July 11

  • 360 days LTI free till end of Q2 2011


5. MAINTENANCE

  • Nov 2010 Oracle Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) module implemented

  • In 2010 Established inhouse capability to perform Midlife Overhauls of mining equipment


6. HSE

  • In 2010 reduced the LTI frequency rate to 2.09 by the end of year

  • Implemented revised HSE management system in Q4 of 2010

  • Received EIA for Safwa and Mandoos in Q3 of 2010

  • Q3 of 2010 received final permit for Tailing Facility issued by MECA (Ministry of Environment & Climate Affairs)

  • End Q2 2011 the LTI frequency rate for Mawarid further reduced to 1.71

  • In Mar 2011 Mawarid launched a wellness campaign for its employees


7. HR & ADMIN

HR

  • Mawarid Mining was awarded by Ministry of Manpower for achieving and maintaining high rate of Omanisation for the year 2010 (Awarded in December 2010).

  • Mawarid provides more than 800 trainings seats to its employees in the year 2010 wherein the strength of Mawarid was 484

  • Mawarid conducted a special “Front Line Supervisory Training” program for its first line supervisors in December 2010

  • Mawarid Mining launched Leadership Development Program (LDP) for its high potential employees in 2010

ADMIN

  • Mawarid Annual/Family day was celebrated on 23rd February 2011

  • Mawarid gym center started on 25th July 2011 in support of the wellness campaign


8. PROCUREMENT

  • In 2010 Mawarid Warehouse was fully operational. The Oracle and Oniqua Standards Systems were implemented in the beginning of 2010. As a result the warehouse has become more systemized improving flow & exchange of information between various departments.
